Hole Fishing Rod Tier List
All 12 rods in progression order. Prices verified from gameplay — September 2026.
| # | Rod | Tier | Price | Max Weight | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Starter Rod | D | Free | ~15 kg | The rod you spawn with. Fine for your first few commons — replace it as soon as you have $1,000. |
| 2 | Stone Rod | C | $1,000 | ~20 kg | First real upgrade. Can technically hook a 30 kg Crocodile (weight overflow is possible, but unreliable). |
| 3 | Golden Rod | C | $7,500 | ~40 kg | Early-game workhorse. Pairs well with first hole-size upgrades. |
| 4 | Leaf Rod | B | $25,000 | ~80 kg | Bamboo-styled rod. Noticeably faster reel speed — first rod that feels 'smooth'. |
| 5 | Cactus Rod | B | $150,000 | ~80 kg | Spiky. Same ~80 kg class as Leaf but better luck profile. Fits the desert theme. |
| 6 | Tree Rod | A | ~$650,000 | ~250 kg | Mid-game gate. Start stacking sell-value upgrades before buying. |
| 7 | Pirate Rod | A | $2,000,000 | ~1,200 kg | Huge jump — 1,200 kg capacity opens up turtles and big sharks. Confirmed in gameplay. |
| 8 | Magic Rod | A | ~$4,800,000 | ~2,500 kg | Shooting-star visual. Much faster reel speed, great for server-hole bursts. |
| 9 | Bone Rod | S | ~$11,000,000 | ~5,000 kg | Skippable if you can rush Candy Cane — but 'too strong' escapes will hurt. |
| 10 | Candy Cane Rod | S | ~$26,000,000 | ~12,000 kg | Late-game. From here on, hole size and luck matter more than the rod. |
| 11 | Void Rod | S | ~$60,000,000 | ~30,000 kg | Name pending verification. Handles everything except extreme secrets. |
| 12 | Hacker Rod | S+ | $320,000,000 | ∞ | Final rod. Max weight effectively unlimited — confirmed end-game rod in multiple playthroughs. |
Recommended Upgrade Path
Rods are the #1 progression gate in Hole Fishing — but don't rush them blindly. The golden rule: upgrade rod and hole size together. A huge hole with a weak rod means constant "too strong" escapes; a strong rod with a tiny hole wastes its weight capacity.
- Early ($0–$150K): Stone → Golden → Leaf → Cactus. Buy every tier, they're cheap.
- Mid ($150K–$5M): Tree → Pirate ($2M, 1,200 kg — the biggest jump in the game) → Magic.
- Late ($5M+): Consider skipping Bone Rod → Candy Cane → Void → Hacker ($320M, final).
